Jackie Gilbert, co-founder of One Thread Collective (https://www.onethreadcollective.com) approached me to shoot her line up of totes and handbags crafted by Colombian women artisans. After learning about the brand I immediately said yes!
One Thread Collective is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to women’s empowerment and sustainability in communities with limited access to resources and services. They connect mindful consumers and rural artisans via a fair trade platform to provide a more meaningful shopping experience. All products are ethically sourced with full artisan recognition. All purchases help provide a fair salary to the women, ensure safe working conditions, and promote the ancestral tradition of weaving.
My challenge was to photograph these incredible bags, called “Mochillas” by the Wayuu artisans, in multiple locations featuring multiple models and do it all in one day. Check out the gallery below!
